Funny how blogging used to be a big part of my uni life but now, it's just something I don't even bother to think about. Heh.
Anyway. Some photos now, yeh?
I am currently down with Belle's Palsy. Don't ask how it happened. It just..did. It started last Friday when I had to wake up early to fetch cousin Ben from the mechanic's. We were planning on having breakfast then. The right side of my lip felt a little swollen and my eyes were burning and pretty swollen. I concluded that I was not getting enough sleep and left it at that.
However, after work in the evening, it didn't subside so I told mom about it in which she thought it could probably be an allergy.
Anyway, took some anti-inflammation and allergy pills and the next day, it got worse. I couldn't pucker my lips. The left side of my lips were uncontrollable and I could only blink my left eye half way. Still, I thought it was an allergy (call me stupid!) but in the evening, my sister took notice of the condition and insisted I see the doctor and yes, that was how I found out I had Belle's Palsy.
It isn't anything life threatening but it is inconvenient in a sense that half my face is paralyzed so it sucks when I have to pronounce words that had bilabial sounds in them. Thank goodness for the long holidays because I had to hold my lips just to teach the kids for the last couple of days! When some of them asked why I did that, all I said was my lips hurt =.=
Unlike many other severe cases where people had drooping lips and such, mine is barely noticeable unless I speak and eat. Of course, due to early detection, chances of this clearing off is higher (usually within weeks) and so, I have been religiously taking my share of steroids, anti-viral meds and such. I've also been taping my left eye shut to sleep in case my eye dries out.
Also, I've started on some physiotherapy which includes massages, ultrasound massage and some electromagnetic treatment. 2 more sessions to go.
As of now, my condition is improving. My left eye is almost closing now and I have gained a bit of strength on my left lip. It may take a while but this should clear within the week *fingers crossed.
Oh, yes. Back to the photos.
Some unglam shots of my condition in the early days.
Le me with swollen eyes and a left eye that won't shut. as you can see, my lips were also slanted to the right side which is my stronger side.
How I look when I smiled then. Immovable left face.
How I've been sleeping since then. Reduced the swelling in both eyes really well. Microspore, I love you!
Day 1 of physio sesh. Of course, those equipment were not involved. My session was spent mostly lying down, relaxing on a bed XD
Loads of medicine in which I am getting really annoyed at now.
Anyway, having been on steroids for such a long time, I noticed an improvement in my skin complexion! I think steroids agree with me :D Mother warned me of the possible side effects such as shaky hands, constant hunger and such but so far, such signs have been avoided.
Anyway, act pretty shot just cos I haven't camwhored in ages! Lopsided mouth is barely noticeable now and am hoping it will all be back to normal by next week! I miss sucking on a straw!
Till then next time then.
