Waking Up in Vegas

Food, food glorious food once again!

I reckon my time of the month is coming as I'm always feeling pretty fungry these days and have constant cravings.

On Friday, Ai Ling and I decided to have lunch at the new town. Apparently, there's this pretty good western food place there called Vegas Kitchen which has pretty much gotten very good reviews from the people who have been there.

I had no classes on Friday and Ai Ling finishes classes at 11.00 am so it was a pretty good time to grab lunch then.

Heading to new town from the Eastlake is pretty troublesome cos there are only two slightly easy routes. One is a muddy hill shortcut where as the other one is to cycle all the way to uni and cut through to new town from KTAR (that's Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman for you) which guarantees better road but the thought of the slightly long journey is pretty put offing. Especially if you're fungry.

We were pretty fungry by the time we decided to go for lunch. For starters, some contractors who came to repair some hole in the apartment next door delayed our supposed-to-be lunch time by nearly an hour. Then we had to drop by the computer shop cos our wireless router wasn't working properly despite the lights lighting up and all.

Got a little pissed at the computer man which increased fungriness. I do not like people blaming me for things I did not do. Especially when it deals with situations like reconfiguring the wireless which I won't do obviously. Idiot. Just because he can get away with his stupid computer talk he feels he's very accomplished la. Grrr.

After the little episode, we then finally, finally had time to go for lunch.

Ai Ling can tell you how much I hate using the muddy hill road short cut but since fungriness was quite extreme, I decided to use that road instead.

After some cycling, pushing bike up the hill and more cycling, we finall arrived at Vegas Kitchen!

Being the good blogger that I now am, I have some photos to show.

We opted to sit outside. So here's the view from where I was sitting. Photos are a wee bit over exposed but lalala, as long as you can see it doesn't matter much.

Menu and my uni pass behind in case we needed to go through UTAR to go back to Eastlake.

Interested people can call.

After flipping through, we finally settled on our orders.

Ai Ling's chose the rootbeer.

This is my lemonade. Tastes just like..lemonade.

I ordered the jumbo chicken thigh which comes with 2 turkey ham slices, potato wedges and vegetable of the day which turned out to be carrots. The thigh was covered in some sweet Honey BBQ sauce and it was honestly delish, tender on the inside and the sauce complementing well with the chicken. Surprisingly, the carrots also tasted pretty good. I think they roasted it with butter and basil leaves. Hmm. It was still pretty raw but the usual carroty taste was replaced with a more buttery one instead. Wedges were..wedges so yum it was.

Ai Ling had the Obama Burger! The burger comes in two patties. You can ask for both beef, or one beef and one chicken or both chickens. She had one beef and one chicken but said it would have been much nicer if both were beef. The chicken patty was covered in a lot of chicken skin. The unique thing about this burger is the beef patty. It just has this really delicious taste.

Pretty satisfied me (with clipped up hair) waiting for Ai Ling to finish her big burger.

Haven't mentioned the fact that burgers here are BIG. Much worth ordering compared to the chops and such.

Photobucket
Ai Ling fooling around with the menu. We decided to take away some burgers for dinner after. Hahaha! For the love of Vegas!

Photobucket
When we were placing our orders for our takeaways, it started pouring! It's such a pour fest now in Kampar and it has been raining nearly every night. Love the coldness in the air after the rain but I don't quite like the fact that there is no sun to dry the laundry!

See the fallen bike at the corner? That bike belongs to Ai Ling! Hahahaha.

The rain stopped after a while so we decided to take the long uni road back since the muddy road will be even muddier.

When we reached home, we quickly unpacked our burgers to take a look! Mine is the Vampire something something burger. Had a side order of potato salad (which was absolutely delicious) instead of the usual fries.

Photobucket
The beef patty and fried garlic made the burger taste different. It was a bit too dry for my liking though. The potato salad was the bomb! The potato still had the skins on and the sauce was just..good. I suck as a food reviewer. Haha.

Photobucket
Ai Ling's Hound Dog bun! It was super gigantic for a hotdog bun but it was yummy, nevertheless.

Photobucket
Jumbo chicken hotdog. Lalala. Look at the mustard and relish.

Vegas Kitchen is definitely one of the best places to grab a western meal here in Kampar. Price wise, it's considered kind of cheap. Burgers (with a side order of fries or potato salad) range from RM 7.00 to RM 11.00 while chops are RM 11.00 onwards.

A few nights ago, I craved for Tang Yuans. So, to Tesco did we go to purchase some ready made ones.

Photobucket
Bought the ones with peanut filling. It was..just heavenly. The peanut filling oozed out once I bit into it so it was pretty gastronomic.

Photobucket
This is the sesame one which is equally good.

I can now conclude tang yuans with fillings are a lot nicer lo. XD

Had a pasta craving today.

Photobucket
Instant pasta for lunch to satisfy the craving. Added in white and brown button mushrooms to the pasta with a sprinkle of basil leaves for the fun of it. I love, love mushrooms so it was all good!

Photobucket
Dinner was also pasta as well! The absolute <3

Photobucket
After cooking the pasta, I mixed french dressing oil (Yes I use salad dressing, so?) into the pasta along with some home-made chili paste Ai Ling's mom made.

Ai Ling got to work frying the garlic, white and brown button mushrooms and sausages together in a pan.

After that is done, top it on the pasta and it's ready to be eaten.

Photobucket
What can I say? It was yums.

Now I better practice some controlled eating habits after this =/

Till then.
