Food food galore

On a quest for food, we (meaning the usual Mirian gang in Kampar comprising of myself, Ai Ling, Derek & Jang Yee) decided to head down to the old town. Our initial plan was to hit Guardian and Watsons and then the Medan Selera area which is equivalent to the food place at the old market in Miri. Only bigger, of course.

Cycling there was part of the plan at first but since the weather wasn't cooperative enough, we opted for a taxi instead. Upon arrival, the first stop for Ai Ling and I was to the bank to withdraw cash boo hoo. While walking there we chanced upon some people setting up food stalls. Alas, we found a Pasar Malam! =D

After the bank, we went to Guardian and then it was to the pasar malam!

Actually it wasn't night then la. More like evening but NEVER MIND.

Random stall shot. This stall sells dessert stuff. We bought tau hu hua here and the jelly thing in the transparent container.

Stalls lining the old streets.

<span class=
Lok-lok! 50 cents per stick. The orangey sauce was really nice. A bit spicy. The reddish one was sweet.

<span class=
Lots of kind to choose from really.

Asam lakse for RM 2.30.

This was nice! We had this sitting on tables place near the road. Road side stalls. The mint leaves complemented the soup well and the soup was flavourful. Yum.

Tau hu hua! So smooth it slides down your throat. Yum.

<span class=
Jelly thing! The seller will add ice into the jelly if you buy it so it's super nice and cold =D. I think it's peach flavoured koniyaku jelly with bits of canned fruits and pieces of jelly mixed into it. There's also a quarter of a lemon inside probably to enhance the taste. Derek actually popped the lemon into his mouth, probably thinking it was jelly. Knowing him. Sigh.

After the pasar malam, we then went to the Medan Selera place.

Not many stalls were open then. I think it's more of a breakfast place. Probably around 40-50 plus stalls in one place.

Nevertheless, we had...

Fu chuk something something drink.

<span class=
Shared a RM 2.50 plate of kueh tiaw with sea hams and eggs.

Declaring ourselves quite full, we then went to Watsons where we came across this shop that sold claypot rice. The rice had to be good cos people were queuing up for it. =(

Derek then said he had thought about this place but he did not tell us about it cos he just didn't. Like that la! Got nice place to eat didn't share la. So annoying la him. Hmmph!

We didn't eat the claypot rice then cos if we wanted to take away, we had to wait for half an hour. It was raining pretty heavily then so yea, no one wanted to wait. I actually woke up thinking of claypot rice just now boo-hoo.

Spoils from the pharmacies.

My skin seriously looks like shite now. My pores on my cheeks look big, my nose has black spots on it and the pimples =( And the oiliness. =((

I've heard good reviews on the Neutrogena energizing cleanser. Used to be a Neutrogena person back in the sec school years. As for the Bioessence mask, it was on promotion and I decided to try it la. Haha. Used it yesterday and my skin felt warm and soft after. It turned reddish too. It's supposed to speed up skin regeneration or something like that. As for the Marvel Gel well, just wanted to try it la.

Let's see how the new skin regime goes.

Ai Ling's ai xin lunch! Consists of a burger patty, chili tuna & mayo, tomatoes and lettuce. We had this last Friday.

Today, she made a makeshift claypot rice using the rice cooker since we didn't have our share yesterday. I have a good mind to demand Derek to cycle to the old town to get it for us since it's his fault. Hmmph.

More photos in the next post.

Till then.
