Tags aside, I paid a visit to the ENT doctor yesterday. Actually, mom asked me to go consult him since I always have block nose, allergies and such which is very annoying. After asking me some questions, he did a scope for not only my nose but my tonsils and ears as well (later on he told my mom I had small tonsil. Like that lor. Gossip about me when I am away. Hmmph). Quite interesting really.
Anyway, the scope showed that I have enlarged turbinates in my nose.
To be honest, I didn't know what size our turbinates were supposed to be. The one on my left nostril is actually touching the side of my nose whilst the other is nearly touching the side as well. Anyway, the doctor told me that all I had to do was take antihistamines when the need arises so I didn't think it was such a big problem.
Then after my turn, it was my mom's turn to consult him. Mom only has allergic rhinitis which can be controlled using sprays and certain meds. So the conversation somehow turned to me and that was when the doctor told my mom I had enlarged turbinates and this cannot be solved even if I use nasal sprays. Mom went on to talk (gossip more like haha) about how I made noises when I sleep (the doctor asked mom if it was snoring like a pig. =.= I don't snore okay), which kind of sounds like this sucky sound. Also, I had the biggest nose blowing noise in the world and that my brother called me the elephant when I do that. See what happens when you leave our mom alone with the doctor!!
Anyway, after much conversation, the doctor told mom my turbinates' size can be reduced through this process under LA (local anaesthesia) where the turbinates are 'burned' using this special machine and reduced to normal size. Unfortunately, I don't have much time to decide since he will be returning the machine anytime soon.
Le sigh. He should have told me la when I consulted him. Tsk tsk. Anyway, shall have to talk to him again soon to find out more and whether it is necessary or not, the pros and cons and how painful is the process. Haha.
I shall pray.
Till then.

First of all, thanks for doing the tag. HAHAH!
So, do you really have to treat this turbinate thingamajig? It's nothing serious right? I mean, besides making noises when we sleep? Or when we sneeze? However, the block nose + allergies must be darn vexing.
Hmm. It's actually pretty uncomfortable lo since sometimes you have to wake up damn early in the morning due to runny noses and stuff. Plus, I have a lot of mucous going down my throat since the turbinates are sort of blocking the mucous from flowing out. So I thought might as well just try it to treat it first to see how it goes. Haha.
