After much much many many years of having black hair, I decided to dye my hair. Haha!
So, yesterday, Jessica, me and my virginal hair decided to pay Kelvin Saloon a visit for a cut and dye (only for me). Being kiasu (as in me), I picked Jessica up at 8.30 am and we decided to hit the saloon since it opened at 9.oo am. When we arrived, the saloon was not even opened so we then headed off to Krokop 5 for breakfast. So kiasu till didn't eat breakfast, can? Haha.
So we went back to the saloon at around 9.10 am and went inside only to discover that the hairstylist both of us wanted to go for was fully booked. Hmmph. Figures there are more kiasu people than me. I bet they made their bookings since Monday or probably last week. Or last month. KIASU!!!
Nevertheless, being the stubborn old biddy that I am, I still wanted to get my hair cut and dyed then because I didn't have much time left to do it with all these CNY bakings which I have not even started yet! Mind you, I only have the weekends to do some serious baking since the week days are already reserved for work.
After failing to get squeezed in for an appointment, I decided to head off to Wei Tse instead to get my hair done. Jessica made an appointment with the hairstylist in Kelvin for today so she spent the rest of the time accompanying me at the other saloon. Thanks a bunch! =)
Upon arrival, the scene at the saloon was quiet and there was plenty of space and time for me to get my hair cut and dyed. While Wei Tse worked on one of her customers, one of her assistant passed the colour book to me and Jessica and I pored over it, going over the colours and singling out the ones we thought were suitable for my hair. Mind you, it was hard since some shades were very similar and one wrong choice can lead to bad hair for months!
Before that, I had already decided that I was going to go for something brown. I know la. So unadventurous, yes? However, I did not want anyone to start having a field day if I came back with overly bright hair. Besides, I wanted something that looked natural. Oh, the irony. Faking my hair colour and trying to make it natural. Hurhur.
After cutting my hair, Wei Tse asked me what colour did I NOT want for my hair and I told her I didn't want anything too bright and red. After a bit of advising and such, I came to a decision between two shades of brown, to which she said she would adjust the colour for me. After mixing the colour for me, her assistant started slathering the dye on my hair. I was seriously worried that the colour would come out not to my liking, or that it might not suit me or that, that. Well, the possibilites were endless. Jess was beside me comforting me and telling me that everything will turn out great.
After the first coating, Wei Tse came and took a look at my hair. She told the assistant to mix another batch of colour and then her assistant told me I needed more dye since my hair wasn't absorbing the colour. She then asked me if I had ever dyed my hair black to which I replied no. All natural, baby. Haha!
The second dye was more successful and she then prceeded to apply dye on my roots. That part stung my scalp and the smell of the dye was overwhelming. After sitting around for a few more minutes , the assistant told me it was time to wash my hair and after washing, I did some treatment and last minute trimming. The process of the entire thing took about 3 hours I reckon and it was around 1 something in the afternoon when we finally left the saloon.
Both of us were ravenous then and since we were heading to Boulevard, we might as well had lunch there. Both of us had Japanese food which turned out quite nice, really.
Jessica's chicken something bento. I only asked to take a picture of it after she had dug a hole in the rice. Hurhur.
My salmon bento.
After our controlled meal, we headed off in search of a present for a dear friend. Apart from that, I also bought some colour shampoo. Have to start protecting the hair now. Then it was time to head home.
The comments I got about my hair from my family members were so-so. Dad said it was nice whereas mom and my bro thought it was too red (it's not!). Bah. MMS-ed a picture to my sister and she said it was nice. Hoho. So, I've started taking a liking towards it which is all that matters in the end.
Hello brown hair.
Not so obvious from the pic but oh well, illustration purposes. Haha
Okay before I end, I have something to share.
Take time to listen to the song above. The vid is pretty cool too but the song is the main purpose. We've been singing this song in church and it's truly meaningful. =)
Till then.
