Baking therapy

Jessica and I had made plans to bake today since it was a public holiday and we were feeling pretty free. It turned out fun and our products were quality-controlled. Lol. Well, certain batches were not so though. Haha.

The day started off with us going to Servay and Boulevard to buy the ingredients that we needed to bake. I reckon I haven't told you what we had planned to bake. It's none other than the most simple, yet mouth-watering, homish baked goods you can find, chocolate chip cookies! Haha. *Turns braggish mode on. We had a great recipe in our hands, mind you. *Gloats. Okayla. Shall stop being annoying.

We started seriously baking at around 10 am at Jess's kitchen. Since the recipe was enough to produce about 45 cookies (depending on the size la actually), we decided to triple the recipe! I guess both of us have never tripled the recipe aside from the usual doubling so it was an adventure. Sort of.

The fail-safe recipe.

White and brown sugar in a bowl. The brown sugar looks awfully cute with it's cyllinder-like shape.

After creaming the butter with the sugars, we hand-mixed the flour in resulting in..

a beige-ish sort of coloured dough.

After adding in the chocolate chips.
Being in a sort of 'ke kiang' mode, I added a wee bit too much chocolate chips resulting the dough to become rather greasy. The dough changed from beige-coloured to tan and during the last few batches, it was brown coloured altogether! Woops.

Our product. =D

Overall, they weren't bad. It had sort of a famous amos taste but it wasn't too sweet. However, we had two types of different cookies texture from the many bathces we baked; crispy and chewy. It tasted good both ways since it was very chocolate-chip filled.

See the difference? The texture and colour of the cookies were affected by the oil exerted by the dough from time to time. We fixed this problem by adding flour to the dough from time to time to keep it from getting too oily.
I reckon we baked over 100 cookies today. It was fun and tiring at the same time. We should do this some time soon. =)

Allen, who found out about our baking plans today had asked to be given them cookies if it turned out okay. So, I gave him an sms and invited him over to Jess's house. He became our cookie taster and we were nice enough to package some for him.

A light moment? Lol.

Anyway, Allen and the gang (comprising of 3 other men) will be leaving for KL tonight for a 10-day holiday. Hope they have fun =D

Alright more updates from me till then. I bet you've noticed that I'm updating quite regularly these days, eh? Yeh.
