A mixed story of sorts

Alright. While waiting for We Got Married to load, I decided that I should finally blog properly instead of waste time doing other irrelevant things. Such as Big Banging. Haha!

Though I'm not so much of a 2 PM fan, I think Nickhun is quite the hilarious and Victoria makes quite a good wife for him. They're quite cute together.

However, if my T.O.P ever joins WGM, I think I shall just die of jealousy and protest like mad! Grr. Check out this to see his Elle photoshoot with a much older woman (50-year-old actress!) Rrrr. Dislike the closeness of it all!

Lol. Did I not mention that this was going to be a Big Bangless post? Ah well. Sorry I am.

First off, let's talk about..Teluk Intan. After that, I shall be posting some other random photos of stuff that I've been up to recently.

I'd like to apologize beforehand because the photos didn't turn out to be very nice. See, on the day of departure to Teluk Intan, yours truly fell sick with flu. Of all times, really. Flu sort of damaged my mood and all sooo....basically, some of the photos turned out blurry and and and...I'm sorry =( We still need images for illustration purposes though.

So, moving on.

After arriving in Teluk Intan after a nearly one hour drive, we stopped at Ai Ling's coursemate's house first to unload and unpack. Leng Wei (Ai Ling's friend) stayed in a shop house. The ground floor was her dad's workshop and her mom's sewing class location whereas upstairs, there were rooms and also the living room. Kitchen and such were also located on the ground floor. 'twas quite nostalgic staying there as it reminded me of my grandma's old flat. We used to have such fun there.

First stop was of course breakfast! She took us to this coffee shop which sells really awesome Indian noodles. However, that day, we opted for curry mee instead which was equally famous there.

Curry mee!

Ai Ling's bowl after mixing.

The taste was good. Santan taste wasn't too strong and curry flavour was sufficient enough. Definite yum.

Also tried out the Lou Mai Kai.

Sooi Pheng opted for the Kicap Mee instead.

After breakfast, Leng Wei drove us around to look around town. Teluk Intan is bigger than Kampar and has better facilities and entertainment spots compared. It's kind of like the Bintulu of Sarawak I reckon.

We caught a movie after all the driving around. The Expendables become our choice because of the limited selection of movies at the cinema.

However, I can conclude that their cinema is way, way, wayyy better compared to Miri's in terms of condition, sound system and snacks and practically everything.

Here is a photo of the cinema taken using my phone camera. Some preview was going on then. Ah well. Photo is for illustration purposes only so..ya. Meh.

The Expendables is an action packed movie. Like, very action packed. Wasn't that bad but I wasn't very much into all that blood and gore.

After the movie, Leng Wei took us to eat Ice Kacang. There was this spot which is said to have one of the nicest Ice Kacang so off we went.

This is the stall which has the famous Ice Kacang. Small, no? Leng Wei said that the asam laksa here is also pretty popular with the locals. Didn't get to try it cos we were still full then.

Ta-da our Ice Kacang and Ai Ling's mango ice thing behind. The mango ice was filled with mango syrup so yeah, nothing to shout about.

Here is my bowl of yumminess. Look how big the red beans are. They tasted more salty compared to sweet which was really nice. I like how it does not have a strong santan taste like the ones in Miri. It was almost milky..kind of like Special. Delicious.

We walked around town after that, going into small clothes shops and also accessories shops and stuff. It rained then so after traipsing around, we headed home. Leng Wei's mom prepared dinner already by then so we had some home-cooked food. Her mom is an awesome cook and kept us really well fed through out the trip.

Later on at night, Leng Wei brought us to a steamboat buffet. It was RM 20 and the selection was amazing. AMAZING! Apart from the selection of steamboat items, there was a huge selection of desserts (ice-creams, ABC, pastries, fruits, jellies, cakes), a grill bar where you can order things to be grilled and a fry bar as well.

At first, Ai Ling and I were so ecstatic about the entire thing we nearly went into hyperventilation.

Of course, after that, something entire different happened. Hence, we have named this event the 'Sweet dream or Beautiful Nightmare' steamboat.

Let's take a look at some of the stuff we had first.

Over all view of our table before the entrance of stuff from the grill bar, fry bar and of course, DESSERTS! I have no idea why Sooi Pheng looks so depressed. Hurhur.

Mushrooms and fish noodles.

Crabs and oysters and pari fish underneath the oysters!!

Forgot to mention they had a sushi bar as well! Argh! Madness.

Other assortment of mushrooms and seaweed.

Steamboat staples.

More steamboat staples and fruits and jellies behind.

Chee cheong fun was there too!

Stuff from the grill bar. Lamb was awesome.

Other grill bar food. Ham and chicken if not mistaken.

Ikan bakar!

Other desserts!

Check out the selection of dipping sauces that they have

We also had some stir fried chicken. No photo cos I forgot to upload it. Meh.

As you can see, we had a huge amount of food waiting for us and due to everyone's excitement, we might have underestimated our eating ability.

We ended up with way too much food, especially the steamboat staples and by the end of the meal, we almost felt like dying. The staples didn't seem to finish and to be honest, it wasn't as yummy as we thought so finishing it was hard. To makes matters worse, Sooi Pheng claimed she couldn't swallow any more food so we were 3 surviviors left, trying to fend ourselves from having to pay the penalty of Rm 5 for 500 gm if any wasted food is found.

After stuffing ourselves to the extreme limit, we did the only thing we knew.

We hid the food.

Blur evidence of people hiding food.

Ai Ling wrapped everything in tissue and disposed it in the washroom. HAHAHA!

Anyway, it was indeed a nightmare of TOO MUCH FOOD. I honestly got so full like this for the first time that I had chest pain. I felt like vomiting in the car and really, it was the worst feeling in the world at that moment.

We stopped at 7-11 and Ai Ling bought some Eno for us and after drinking a cup later, I went into the bathroom and I threw up. Yes indeed. Twice.

So it was, in the end, a beautiful nightmare. Too much good food. Just. Too. Much.

We got some rest that night but..something else happened. Mosquitoes kept attacking and biting me all over so I spent the fraction of the night scratching and tossing and turning instead of sleeping =(

The next morning, we had to get up around 7 am because Leng Wei wanted to bring us to Teluk Batik for a picnic. It is beach that was a slightly more than an hour drive from Teluk Intan. She even got up early to prepare nasi lemak for our breakfast.

My plate of rice and homemade heavenly sambal. Was just getting started so pardon the slightly empty plate.

Condiments to go with rice. Curry by Leng Wei's mom, prawn sambal and cucumber.

Now, something else happened during our picnic.

While we were peacefully enjoying our food, suddenly a cat appeared and started mewing and running towards our direction. Leng Wei and Ai Ling shooed it away but instead of going away, it kept coming back. It would run away once it was shooed but then it would keep coming back. Soon, more of its friends started coming. Where did all these brave cats come from la. Sigh.

Bees here are equally brave as well. They started flying all over us and also the food and wouldn't leave even when we tried flicking it away. It became so frustrating that we changed locations. Same thing happened after so we just gobbled up the food as soon as possible and kept everything away.

One of the annoying cats around. Ugh.

A shot of the beach. You can see some chalets at the far end.

We headed to Lumut after that to do more walk see walk see.

Ai Ling acting cute on top of a tower-like building.

The port where one can take the ferry to Pulau Pangkor if not mistaken.

Some..branch-like things.

Dolphin display! Each showed the dolphin in different positions while doing its dive.

Ai Ling riding the dolphin.

O hai, iz me. Pardon the stiff pose and all. A gentle reminder that I was sick and did not have much rest prior to the event.

Hugeass anchor.

Big seashell like frame and small Ai Ling.

We ended the Lumut trip by stopping at this shop which sold a lot of dried seafood snacks and such. The rest had a ball of a time shopping for snacks.

On the way back, we spotted a Hutan Paya Bakau place and decided to stop for a look see. Plenty of monkeys were seen running about.

We decided to take a walk around anyway since we were already there.

They had these bridges built for people to walk about to err enjoy nature. Can spot a hugeass monkey sitting on the railing.

After snapping this photo, I turned around and to my horror, a monkey suddenly appeared behind me! I screamed and ran toward the rest who were walking in front and soon, everyone started panicking! The monkey started walking towards us slowly and we felt so cornered. Leng Wei threw her empty 100 plus at it and as soon as it ran towards it, we darted off and jumped into the car.

Seriously, it was such an amazon day.

The rest of the afternoon was spent napping and traipsing around town in search of clothes and stuff. Did not buy anything though. Except for some flu medicine.

We treated ourselves to some Secret Recipe cakes too at night alongside other street munchies and watched TV.

Woke up early also on Sunday to follow Leng Wei and her mom to the market to walk walk.

Before that, her mom treated us breakfast at a coffee shop.

Managed to visit the Teluk Intan infamous tower during that period of time.

Infamous leaning tower. Which explains why it looks kind of slanted =/

It used to be a water storage place so we found this on the floor of the ground level.

Nice looking window.

Lots of spiral staircases about. It was pretty dark as well.

Zis is found on the ceiling on the highest floor of the tower.

Headed back home to have tauhu hua the mom bought for us and to pack to come back to Kampar. Decided to head off to the hot springs first in Bidor before going back.

Oh, We had hugeass durians as well! The creaminess of it all. MM. Goodness.

We headed to the hot springs in the afternoon around 4 pm. We were initially pretty worried that it would not be open but were relieved upon arrival to find that the place was opened till 9 pm.

It reminded me of Poring Hot Springs in many ways really. Nevertheless, it was a good place to just rest and chill a bit.

After checking out all the pools they had, we decided to rent a private family room which costs RM 75 an hour.

Some photos from the camera phone. Photos taken due to the happiness felt when we went into our very own private jacuzzi!

Three girls in the jacuzzi, Water was crazy hot in the beginning but after you get used to it, you'll begin to relax. The place was walled up and had its own shower, toilet and benches, shelves and such. Really relaxing.

Where the water flows from.

Say bliss.

After the hour was up, we showered, changed and went to try out the public pools located all around.

Ai Ling's feet in the 50-60 Celsius pool. Water was extra extra hot so we only lasted a couple of minutes here. Ai Ling's feet looked like red char siew after this dipping. HOHOHO.

Other Hot Springs photos. Hoho.

We played around till 7pm and then decided it was time to head back to Kampar.

Of course, before going back, we decided to have dinner. Leng Wei suggested to have dinner at this place at the foot of Cameron Highlands so off we went.

Stuff we had. Buttermilk fish, tofu and veggie with belacan. Pretty so-so meal.

Got caught in a jam on the way back. There was a Hindu procession going on so we were stuck for a while.
Reached Kampar around 9 something pm feeling a lot refreshed. Ahh. Destressing is good.

Before I forget. Will be heading down to KL tomorrow! Staying a night there and of course, we'll be traipsing around Bukit Bintang for more finds! Shopping, here I come once again! WOO!

Anyway, random photos of other stuff I've done.

This was either last week or a couple of weeks back. We had durians in the apartment! Courtesy of Leng Wei who gave Ai Ling 2.

Ai Ling diligently opening durians for us. Yum.

Met Jang Yee and Derek for a meal in new town a couple of weeks back. Mark, Ai Ling and Yi Hui came along. We had Vegas for dinner and I had the Obama burger (pictured above) along with a side of potato salad.

Photo of Jang Yee's lamb chop.

Food was good but I had diarrhea when I got home =/ Derek and Ai Ling who had the Obama burger as well also faced the same problem.

Anyway. After dinner, Ai Ling, Yi Hui, Mark and I hung around new town since we seldom come here. Made a pit stop at Shark Ice as well for yummy ice!

Zis is Mark, boy who doesn't like having his photo taken. Hoho.

Ai Ling's mixed fruit ice.

Yi Hui's glutinous rice balls milk ice.

Mark's chocolate banana ice with added pearls.

My latest love- Soya milk ice! It was delicious! Comes with melons, watermelons and pearls. The ice was just soya milk filled.

Ze dog, French Fries catching a nap beside me. <3

Mark disturbing the napping dog. He kept talking nonsense with it, asking why the dog disliked him. Is it because he was related to Jacob from Twilight wtf =.= Moving on.

Went back for another round of Soya Milk ice the next day with Derek and Jang Yee. Mm.

This was last week I think. Sharmilla was playing Plants vs Zombies in an empty room. Bigass screen is the love.

A photo of my dinner last week. Chicken ham, lettuce, cherry tomatoes with a drizzle of salad dressing in pita bread. Yum.

Latest photo around. This is my academic advisor/lecturer for a subject called Language Learning Theories. Here he is happily sitting cross-legged on a table. He totally rocks la my academic advisor/lecturer. My academic advisor consultations with him are normally spent on gossiping and stories and such. He's cool.

Righty-o. I spent such a long time typing this longass post so please appreciate the effort. HAHA!

Happy shopping to myself and a happy weekend to all! Till then.
