1 more to go!/ Some wedding picchas

*Edit: Photos are a bit too big cos it's in it's original size! Click to see full photo or view FB to see it in it's full glory. Hoho.

I am finally down to my final paper! It has indeed seemed like months since I last had freedom. Boo.

Last paper is happening this Thursday. We'll be heading down to KL on Friday for 2 days and then flying back to Miri on Sunday afternoon! Hello, sweet Miri air. *Sniffs.

Plans after finals include shopping!!!! Followed by more SHOPPING!! And indulging in good food, living the good life, sharpen photography skills + editing skills and driving!

I haven't thought much about holiday plans except for SHOPPING to be honest. Hurhur.

Anyways, let's move on the the first Indian wedding experience instead.

My Journalism I lecturer from my first year, second trimester got married! She invited a bunch of her students whom she had taught before to attend her wedding reception. It was held last Saturday and since we had about 2 days gap before the next final exam, I decided to tag along to the wedding.

Headed to Ipoh with some coursemates at 1.00 pm. The reception was at 7.00 pm. The guys wanted to catch Ip Man 2 and since there wasn't much planning and all, there were no tickets to watch the movie. We went gallivanting about at Ipoh Parade and headed to the hall where the wedding reception was held at 5.30 pm only to arrive super duper early at 6.00 pm where the hall was still being set up. Sigh.

Since I had nothing to do, my coursemate, Sze Wan and I decided to take a walk around the hall.

The hall. With fake tilt shift effects. Hurhur.

You shall see lots of shot of architecture because it was just too early plus I had to entertain myself for a bit.

The hall. Quite full photo.

Benches which make me feel like sitting on them. Would have done it if it weren't for the drizzle.

Went into the hall for a look-see.

Sze Wan and the entrance. Haha.

The drizzle got a bit heavy after our little walk so we returned to the car and sat there for almost an hour till around 7 pm.

It was seriously...something worth remembering. I remembered being totally bored out of my brains sitting in the midst of 4 people who were all asleep. The rain started pouring and pouring like nobody's business so I was stuck. Yersh.

Entertained myself a bit by looking at the cars and lorries that were coming and going with more props and such for the dinner.

The rain stopped around close to 7 pm and since we saw guests arriving, we alighted from the car and waited outside the hall for the rest of our coursemates to turn up. We waited for at least 45 minutes for everyone to arrive. Talk about a night of waiting.

As soon as we gathered everyone, we entered the hall and were welcomed by some ushers who sprinkled water on us and gave us a souvenir.

Rose petals scattered around the center of the table.

The reception started at about 8.00 pm with a group of boys singing hymns to the Hindu God.

The bride and groom were then ushered in and after that there was a speech given by a man (who is supposed to be some prominent figure I think).

A quite funny thing happened after that. Since dinner was served in a buffet style, while the man was giving the speech, the waiter were removing the covers from the trays of food. As soon as that happened, groups of people started getting up and rushing over to the buffet table. =.=

The poor man.

I was told this was something that normally happens anyway so..yeah.

Since the queue was still a bit too long, we made our way to our lecturer first to give her the angpao from our class and to congratulate her.

After giving her the angpao, we then lined up at the buffet table for dinner.

Food was very yum and we had dessert of jelly and (melted) vanilla ice-cream to end the meal.

Pics of people from our table. The table could only sit 7-8 people so we had to take two tables. From left Daryl, Amber, Cheryl, me and Sze Wan.

The thing about Indian dinner receptions is, it ends very fast. After eating, people can be seen going up to the stage where the bride and groom were standing, congratulating them, take a quick snap and then rush home.

We sat for a bit longer till the crowd thinned and then went up stage to congratulate again the newly-wed couple and take photos with them.

Photobucket
Took a photo of the wedding cake while waiting on stage for our turn. Notice that they used the back of a spoon to cut the cake.

Group pic 1 with the couple.

Met some lecturers there as well.

Photo with Mr Paul, who taught us Academic Writing last semester and can be very sarcastic which is funneh.

Cheryl's turn to masuk in the photo. Haha.

Sigh. Now to find the motivation to strive for the last paper!

Till then.
