Apologies for the hiatus

I apologize for being a lazy bum. Yet again and again and again. Classes have started and so far, there has been nothing eventful going on. I guess I should probably continue the Cameron post as the photos are currently rotting away on Photobucket. Hmm. Read only if you are still interested.

After our night adventures around town, we headed back to the hotel and spent the rest of the night watching movies on TV and then sleeping. We had a list of places we were going to visit ready and although we had no idea how to get there and all, we just slept on it and decided to take care of things the next day.

Our day started pretty early..about 7 or 8 am perhaps? After showering and getting ready, we headed for breakfast first. Not knowing which coffee shop would be good for breakfast, we just entered one which was very near the hotel for some chow.

3 of us shared a plate of chee cheong fun which tasted similar to the one in Miri with the sweet sauce.

Ai Ling had this bowl of ..noodles with soup. Can't remember what it is actually. Haha!

Sooi Pheng and I both had this pan mee which was just fine.

The climax of the story shall soon begin.

After eating, Ai Ling asked one of the waitresses about the attraction in Cameron as she was paying the bill. The waitress asked us if we were using our own transportation to which we said we weren't. She told us that it would be difficult for us to get around as most of the attractions were pretty far and taking taxis there would cost us a bundle. SO, she told us to join a tour group instead, recommending this place called Titiwangsa to us. Of course being new people in this place, we actually listened to the advice of this waitress, which we deeply regretted later.

Trudging to Titiwangsa which was just opposite the road, we met a man and a woman who were supposingly the owners of the place in an office. The woman (whose name has totally escaped me but is along the lines of Jennifer) told us about their packages which sounded promising. Since we had missed the time for the morning tour to the BOH Plantation, we decided to go for the afternoon tour which started at 2.30 pm to some cactus, strawberry and vegetable farms and such. I hate the way how tour packages can con us into believing it as it is. See what advertising has done to the human race. Tsk tsk. At the end of the tour, we were told that we would be going for a steamboat which 'Jennifer' claimed to be 'the best in Cameron'. The entire package would cause us RM 65 per person. That's right.

Yes, yes, call us stupid, naive or whatever. During that period of time, that con woman of a travel agent sounded so convincing we actually believed her. Sigh. So, we paid up the money and since it was still around 11 .00 am, we decided to tour the town a bit. Before that, the woman asked us to pick a tour guide, whether we preferred an English speaking one or a Mandarin speaking one. Our first option was the English one but somehow the woman convinced us to take the Mandarin speaking one because he is a 'gentle' person, according to her. During the tour we found out that she probably convinced us to take the Chinese tour guide because the English tour was already full =.=

So, back to trudging around. While out and exploring town, we discovered two attractions that were in Brinchang and were within walking distance! The best part was that both attractions were located next to each other.

Hence, following the signboards, we arrived at the Cactus Valley and Big Red Strawberry Farm. We decided to visit the Cactus Valley first. Admission fee is RM 4 I think.

Can see Ai Ling heading to the ticket counter

Now, apart from the many, many, endless rows of cactus, there were rows of flowers and other leafy plants as well. In some areas, you'll be able to find shady spots with arrays of flowers and such which was kind of nice.

There were also many, many staircases as well, ascending higher or descending lower. Take your pick.

Ai Ling, our fearless leader. Hoho.

Flora photos. Not many of these cos I sort of lost interest in taking photos of them after a while. Not really a nature person in that sense. Hmm.

I bet some of you have seen the camwhoring photos on FB. Since most of them are already there, I'll just be posting some here. For illustration purposes.

Shall do a post next on the strawberry Farm and then the horrendous experience we had. Reckon this post is getting too long.

Till then.
