Over the weekend

Edited: Just counted. I took over 300 photos of the concert! Talk about enthusiasm.

Photobucket
I got to play media for the UTAR Welcoming Concert last Saturday. Actually, I was only asked to be the photographer for the CF performance but since I already had the pass, might as well use it the maximum so I took photos of the other performances as well. It was quite an interesting experience as it was my first time being Media (hurhur). At first I was quite helpless as I did not know what to do but after that, I got a bit more comfortable. There were other photogs around, some with cool equipments *jealousy* while some were just like me =D

I took hundreds of photos, close to 200 I think? What to do la. I kept thinking I needed back up or shizz. Anyways, some photos from the concert ahead. Still new so yea, cannot expect much please.

Anyways, I got quite pissed at the so called 'helpers' for the concert. Well, some of them anyway. I have never seen such inefficient people before in my life I tell you. The event started at 10.00 am. I wanted to go in at around 9.30++ to take photos of the stage and maybe some deco around but 'helper' standing at the door said media cannot come in yet. What la. Does he think I have many butts to steal his precious chairs is it? So I asked him what time could I go in and he said still pending. Nabeh la this sort of people really. You think we're paparazzi is it? As I was hanging around the door, a group of boys marched themselves in. The 'helper' asked if they were coming to watch and they said yes. He told them that they could not go in yet but one of them saw me and my camera and got distracted. He asked me to take a photo after rounding up some of his friends producing the photo below.

Photobucket
Didn't realize one of the guys got half his head cut off. Guy second from left requested for the photo. Then he told his friends they were going to be on the newspapers =.=

We actually ignored the 'helper' and went in the hall to take this photo. HAHA. Of course I left la after that.

This is also the photo that made Ai Ling regret not going for the concert. She is currently green with envy =P

Anyway, I actually really assumed they were just audience la, really. They sort of reminded me of anime characters so I had 'anime boys' singing in my head while taking this shot. HAHA. My assumption was proven wrong as you shall see later.

I tried going in AGAIN at around 9.50+ but NOOOO, I was still not able to go in. So maybe I should like go back home straight and come back at 2.00 pm, wouldn't that have been better? I was feeling quite the annoyed at this point so I complained to this fellow committee person and I gave him a whole mouthful of words. I think he must think I am some sort of b*tch at this point.

I managed to get in at around 10.00 am++ and since the lights were totally darkened, I have no nice shots of the stage. Thanks, 'helper', I shall remember you face for life.

Photobucket

On second thought, I shouldn't. A waste of brain cells.

Photobucket
Some nice deco on the wall.

Not long after I got in, the VIPs started streaming in. The event then started off with a speech from the president of the Music Club if I've not mistaken.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Random photo. Calvin ss-ing. Tsk tsk. Haha.

Photobucket
Then the chinese ocherstra kicked off the programme.

Three girls sang 'Sway' after that.

My mental image of the correct arrangement of the programme is a bit off so forgive me if I make mistakes.

Photobucket
This performance was quite unique.

Photobucket
It started off with singing and then, a beat boxer comes and joins the scene.

Photobucket
He then does a solo.

Photobucket
It was quite cool.

Photobucket
There was a dance performance by twin sisters.

Photobucket
There was this part where the put on masks and it was quite cool la but I was smsing then and did not get the shot haha.

Photobucket
Singing duo with guitarist. They sang two songs, one called 'Melody' and another English song.

Photobucket
Ada chemistry haha.

Photobucket
Indian duo sang an Indian song while dancing.

Photobucket
It was cheery.

Photobucket
More singing ensued.

Photobucket
She has quite a good voice. They were singing 'Don't say you love me' by M2M. Classic.

Photobucket
Two guys came out after. I THINK this was the group that sang Belaian Jiwa.

Photobucket
Quite the nice as well. We do have talent among us after all.

Photobucket
El 2 emcees.

Photobucket
They worked well together.

Photobucket
There was also a magic show. It was errr. Well, people can give you their opinions la. One photo of this show is enough la. Haha.

Photobucket
Another group performance. They sang two songs, one of it was Yellowcard's Only One.

Photobucket
Rocking it. If you see clearly, note that the bassist at the furthest right of the photo is the same guy from the anime boys photo. The one with the peace sign. Haha!

Photobucket
Left guy's guitar is nice.

Photobucket
The ending.

Then, a guy comes on stage and does Canon Rock by Jerry C. Although I've heard of this song before, watching it being solo-fied live was very entertaining.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Rocking it.

Photobucket
I then realized something. Isn't this one of the anime boys?

Apparently, they weren't audiences after all. Haha. He did put on a very good solo anyway.

Photobucket
After his solo, the other band members came out and together they form Char Siew Pau. No, seriously.

Photobucket
They sang Wake Me Up When September Ends.

Photobucket
I quite like this photo although it's a bit blur cos the guy looks so happy.

Photobucket
Nah, Ai Ling, YENGNESS. Haha.

Photobucket
There was a duo from UTAR Petaling Jaya campus. They sang a song and rapped a err rap (?) which they composed themselves. It was in chinese and was well, good, actually.

Photobucket
There was another dance performance called 'Complicated Love'.

Photobucket
They had some good skillz going on.

Photobucket
Then there was a choir performance. They sang 2 songs as well, Double Trouble and Dancing Queen. The first song was Double Trouble, something from Harry Potter so they decided to go with a gothic look.

Guess who are in this choir?

Photobucket
Forming a cauldron.

Photobucket
Still not sure who eh?

Photobucket
Beginning of Dancing Queen. Happy, happy.

Photobucket
Fine, Jang Yee is in! Like this shot of her.

Photobucket
And yes, you can see Derek dancing away as well. Haha.

Photobucket
It was okay over all, a bit messy at times but not bad.

Photobucket
Another beat boxer comes along but this time, he gives some tutorials instead.

Photobucket
He did this combo where you combine song and beats.

Last to perform.
Photobucket
The CF band! The performance started off with Crystal (girl at left) and Shu Ern (girl in right) singing Paramore's Thats What You Get. Can see Calvin and his sunglasses behind.

Photobucket
Then Kyle (aka my coursemate) who was on the bass, came on and sang two songs, Only Hope by Switchfoot and Our Lives by The Calling.

Photobucket
Sing, sing, sing.

Photobucket
Nicer lights.

Photobucket
Finale.

Then, on Saturday night, I made 3 people model for me after dinner. Dinner was a nightmare then. A new coffee shop opened recently and we had to wait for more than an hour for our dinner. We headed to the gym after the concert so of course we were feeling ravenous during din din. Nightmarish.

Photobucket
Ini tangan photographer. Haha.

My models were obviously none other than

Photobucket
Soon Ai Ling.

Photobucket
Ku Jang Yee.

Photobucket
And of course Derek Bong Cheng Kiong.

Big headed shots. Haha. The inspiration this time was crackers and avocado & tuna dip.

Photobucket

Photobucket
This is actually quite nice. I took this only to demonstrate to Ai Ling I wanted the effect as below.

Photobucket
Feeding Derek poison crackers. Hoho.

Photobucket
Playing the 3 monkeys, you know, you know right?

Photobucket
I think Ai Ling was referring to one of these shots in her blog.

Photobucket

Anyway, we wanted to do some night outdoors shots cos the rained had just stopped then so the scenery would be quite nice to play with BUT didn't in the end, due to certain ahem circumstances.

So, we hung around at Derek and Jang Yee's place.

Photobucket
Being taukey nio. HAHA.

That totally wraps up the weekend plan. For what we did today, please hop over to Ai Ling's blog.

To end the post, I shall embed the Canon Rock video here, in case you've never heard of it.

It's also to fill in the big gap I have at the end here.

Till then.
