The housemate Ling Jie (can keep track on her nicknames or not? there are a couple lo, namely Ai Ling, Soon zhi and Ling Jie lol) and I made Tom Yam noodles for yesterday's dinner! =D I've been having this Tom Yam craving eversince we had the claypot version in Tesco which is actually very nice.
Hence, we proceeded to Tesco to buy the ingredients and prepared them for cooking.

Cut crabsticks and RM 0.30 corn. Okayla the corn was actually on the verge of spoiling hence the cheap price. I had to really, really trim the rotten parts off. What to do, have to be thrifty mah.

Noodles. I told Ai Ling my 'dream' was to eat yee mee with the soup but, but the yee mee that were left were all broken into little pieces and one even had a hole on the wrapper. =.= I wish people would just stop trying to spoil things for people who actually want to buy stuff.

Tom yam paste. I honestly do not recommend this brand lo. Sure, it was spicy and had a sourish
taste BUT it is just not Tom Yam flavoured! It's more like..soured curry mee soup taste.

My preecciiouusss cabbage. It seriously tasted like kimchi after getting soaked in the tom yam soup for so long. *Slurps.
Fish balls(which had the texture and taste of chicken balls =.=), tomatoes, limau purut, star of annis, chili, lemongrass and extremely nicey nicey coriander for garnishing!
The cooking process then began.

Put cabbages in boiling water. I like the cabbage to be a bit mushy mushy so I added it first.
On a random note, my paternal grandma makes the most amazing cabbage soup boiled with pork bones. Awesome shizz. Must remember to go back and devour a few bowls in May =D

Take random photo while waiting.

Next, add in the corn and crabstick.

And then the chicken-balls-masquerading-as-fish-balls.

Take another irrelevant photo. while waiting.

Dump in the chillies, star of annis and lemongrass.

Add the paste.

Let it berboil-boil till, well, till you think it's boiled enough and remove from heat.

Boil water and throw in the noodles.

Drain the water, when it's done and place it on a plate.
Pour Tom Yam soup on top and garnish with coriander.

Ta-da. Finished product!

My overall favourite was probably the cabbage. Lol.
Shall try the Tom Yam paste from Maggie next time instead, since me dear coursemate Cheryl recommends it Haha.

Yesterday's dessert for me. Frozen cake (like the Silverbird kind?) with pure yogurt and cheap strawberries. Bliss~
More random photos below.

Carbonara! Used the mushroom carbonara cream from Prego for this. It was a bit too salty for my taste. The bacon was awesome though. Lol. I miss the one from Siamese Secrets. Sigh.

Phonetic transcription nightmare. Me no likeys. It's so subjective, this transcription cos it sometimes depends on your pronunciation of a word.

Another sweet treat; cake, yogurt and bananas. I love cavendish bananas. Yum.
I shall now be off to do...whatever.
Till then.
