The New Seoul Korean Restaurant

Okay so the photos aren't exactly fresh anymore since I have posted most of them up on Facebook but still, just pretend you've never seen them before as I go into a more detailed description on the food and all.

And if you must know (which I know you don't),I am trying to dig out these blood clots in my nose while typing this post. Have you ever gotten that feeling that something is there and you must, MUST remove it no matter what? It's just very tempting, see and also super annoying. One dried up blood clot practically dropped from my left nostril this morning. It looked sort of like a shriveled up raisin, only red, of course.Just now, I managed to extract a rather sticky red one from my right nostril. Ahhh. Now there's one more in my right nostril but it's just not coming out =( When I want to excavate it, it moves deeper into the nose. Haih. You shall come out soon enough, you miserable old clot. Anyway, I am getting blood clots in my nose because it is something that happens after the turbinate burning thing. Only temporary of course. Yes, I still need to get my left side done. The nurse reckons I should just do it tomorrow. See how la.

Enough about the blood clots. Let us now move forward.

So it was a 1st of September when we decided to have dinner at the new restaurant. It was a public holiday and most of us were pretty free.

The above pic is just to show you how unpredictable the weather has been in Miri, in case you were wondering.

Dinner was supposed to be at 7 pm but of course, some people would still think that 7 pm is 7.30 pm, after converting it to the Malaysian Time System when things run half an hour or an hour late. Hoho.

Kokkers looking all pro with the menu.

We decided to order a few dishes to try out after flipping through the menu. I guess one can say that for young people like us who are not in the working force yet, it is better to do that than splurge lor cos the prices were albeit ridiculous.

Arthur seriously poring through the menu.

Allen aka 'I-who-was-late-because-I-had-no-car' looking at the menu although we had already placed our orders. Haha.

Appetizers I reckon. I quite liked the Kimchi. And there was also this long bean thing in one of the bowls which were pretty nice. The white sticks are probably preserved white radishes and there was also a bowl of anchovies, which tasted sweet. Pretty good.

Cutlery.

The infamous RM 3.50 cup of milo and Rm 5.00 cup of tea.

Let's face it. Most eating outlets have started charging pretty high prices for beverages because patrons spend the most on drinks due to the huge amounts of talking and eating requiring plenty of fluids to wash down. However, this is the first time I've seen a shop charging this price for a tiny cup of Milo. If the quantity was there, one would not complain, would they? And as for the quality, well forget it.

Allen ordered a RM 3.50 glass of soft drink and it came in a much bigger glass okay. So drink wise, it is better to order something canned as it comes in a much bigger quantity.

Some things we tried below.

We ordered Bibim Baap, something like Korean nasi campur actually. The waitress mixed everything together so there is no before photo of this dish.

At first, it tasted tasteless but after a while, I got used to it and hence, it turned out pretty nice.

Bean paste soup! Really liked this one. I think that's because I have an affinity for all things sour. Haha.

Grilled porked layers. This was so-so to me but the guys loved this one. Tastes nice when wrapped in cabbage leaf.

The waiter who grilled the meat for us. Some of the oil splashed on my arm. =.=

Apart from the above, we also ordered Kimchi Fried Rice and Autumn Rolls. They are not pictured because some guys that I can mention made a hole in them dishes when the food was set on the table hence damaging it's presentation.

The Kimchi Fried Rice was lovely, has a milder Kimchi taste compared to the original Kimchi and not very spicy. Has a sourish tinge which was lovely and comes with a fried egg on top. =D

The Autumn Rolls are a bit like...bak kui. Erm meat rolls?

The empty plates and remnants of food.

Daphne & I before leaving. Photo taken by Allen. Hmmph.

After dinner, we headed off to Dessert's for well, dessert. Everyone squeezed into Dragon's car which transported us to our destination. After some yummy ice-cream, we headed back to the Korean restaurant to grab our transports and leave.

And that's that. =)

Next stop, Zaika, the new North Indian restaurant in town. I can feel excitement kicking in for that one. The place seems to offer such yummy cuisines. Ahh.

Till then.
